I really agree with you about Dry January and. Sober October. I am 85 and have a glass of wine, preferably red, every day. My yearly physicals say that every thing is working fine. So I can only pity the poor people that think they need to stop enjoying wine for two months.
I agree about dry January too, simply because moderation across the year works better than binging in December and February. Plus, January is cold and I need wine for that...
Moderation/health concerns and enjoyment of wine don't need to be opposing forces. In my experience, the existence of those two months isn't about shaming the people who continue to drink. They're catering to the people who are choosing not to drink or are choosing to cut back. At the same time, I don't see the need for these months to turn into commercialized monsters or "seasons" at Target. I like that this neoprohibition movement is making us reassess how and why we enjoy alcohol - and how we talk about it. Focusing on the positive role wine plays is important but the negatives should be part of the conversation.
Karen, I was worried about you so I did my own welfare check: Karen is happy , healthy , wine provides her friends and a living, making her internationally recognized and revered. I think you are going to be ok.
I have to agree about dry January. Alcoholism is a real disease so anyone making light jokes about it for attention on social media- oof. We all know deep down if we have a problem with alcohol. I find these dry January, sober October social media holidays to just shame those that don’t partake and also to make fun of alcoholism. It makes light of a massively sad disease that kills far too many. I should note I also see these same people who promote these two months seem to promote binge drinking and drinking to excess the other months on social media to gain follows. So, it is their personal issues, not ours that need to be criticized. You are doing amazing things- it could also be jealous people feel the need to be nasty!

Agree 100% on Dry January and Sober October.
Super interesting the thought on clear glass and rose - maybe the reason to buy rose should be the same as the one for buying other wines? Quality.
Muscly bottles - Good luck to old fashioned wineries!
First of all you look mighty fine to me! Secondly
In todays world with social media you can’t make everyone happy especially those whose agenda is to try to bring everyone down to their unhappy level
Thank you so much for calling out the heavy bottles. They suck up resources in so many ways, and are also quite often impossible to rack!

This is very kind... thank you!
